Leonard works in porcelain and stoneware fired to 1280-1300oC in a brick gas kiln in a reduction atmosphere and currently concentrates on thrown platters and large hand built pieces. He has recently started to work in Kiln Fired Glass and is producing many square and oblong plates with decorative flanges.

With training at ESTC, a Dip Ed and MFA from Sydney Uni Leonard co-authored the Handbook for Australian Potters and is a much published writer about the craft of pottery.

Annual studio sales supplement over 50 group and solo exhibitions over the last 20 years.

With work in 8 public collections in Australia and Japan, PNG and the Philippines;

Leonard has been;

a Vice President of the Crafts Council of NSW;

an Exhibiting Member of the Potters' Society of Australia for 25 years;

President of the Potters' Society of Australia twice;

Editor of Pottery in Australia;

Elected to Life Membership of the Potters' Society of Australia in 1995.
